When should I self-isolate?
The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
- new continuous cough and/or
- high temperature
If you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus illness (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started.
If you live with others and you are the first in the household to have symptoms of coronavirus, then you must stay at home for 7 days, but all other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill.
Anyone else in the household who starts displaying symptoms, needs to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period.

What evidence do I need to provide to the Bank if I have symptoms or someone I live with has symptoms and I need to self-isolate?
If you have been advised to self-isolate due to COVID-19, because you have symptoms or you live with someone who has symptoms, you can self-certify for the first 7 days of absence (including weekends), which means that you do not have to provide any evidence to your employer.
After the 7 day period, you may be asked for evidence of your sickness absence. The Government has launched an isolation note service, which can be used to provide the evidence of the advice to self-isolate.

I am currently subject to a formal Performance Improvement Action Plan. I am now working from home, as instructed by the Bank. However, certain aspects of the plan require me to be at work in order to achieve the objectives set. Where do I stand?
